Saw it on Itv news tonight / great sounding legend from an era that must have been pioneer / excitement and nerves of steel.

Missed the Dart and the Gilbern Did you see the Armstrong-Siddeley Hurricane that arrived late and parked on the sand off to the right of the slipway? What did you reckon to that yellow Daimler Mrs Merdle-esq mash-up? Seemed like a period chassis with Jaguar Mk X/420G engine, B-W autobox, Jaguar instruments and modern seats in an as yet unfinished body? Knocked up as a film/TV prop? The real Mrs Merdle would have made an interesting, if obscure, link to the Railton. I regret to say I was very disappointed. Naively I expected them to run over a reasonable distance at a reasonable speed. In the event they ran a few hundred yards at about 40 mph just as a photo-op! Sounded nice though. The Sunbeam showed its ancient origins, but the Railton was a beautifully engineered work of art - talk of machined from billet!

The Dart is local to me. It's owned by a 'mature' gentleman (he wears a deerstalker!), who believes in making that hemi really sing!
