I won't be there when you cross the road, so always use the Green Cross Code.

Had a meeting in Tewkesbury this afternoon. Nice day so I thought I'd take the ZS for a spin.
Oh no says Mrs S, your not going to a meeting in that, you need to get there, take the goof.
Halfway there front end of goof disappears under a cloud of steam and the temp gauge breaks the end stop. Luckily I was directly opposite the air balloon pub so I hauled in and waited up.
Header tank still had plenty of water. No leaks and the fans kicked in. Initially I thought the water pump must have gone but I could hear water boiling in the head so I assume the stat has jammed.
Hopefully no major damage as I pulled in pretty sharpish
plus side - nice sunny wait in pub with beer since driving day was over.
minus side - £100 trailer fee back to RS autos. Still quids in over annual RAC fee though.
Moral - take the retro whenever possible

My 205's distributor decided to simply stop working last week in Warwick, fortunately it conked out outside a Lucas specialist and AA Nationwide centre.....Lucas didn't have the part unfortunately but I had a good natter to the guy about 'proper cars'. I took the train back to Cov, had a quick look on ebay, found something and if it arrives tomorrow, then the tale will end happily ever after. Thats retro motoring.

Plus it's a nice view from the Air Balloon car park! I pass that place three or four times a week, be thankful it didn't happen on the way UP, I have my heart in my mouth every time I take a wagon up there!!

I used to pass there every day with work, fully laden with waste paper, down to 5mph on the way up. It has hard keeping the truck the right way up going round that roundabout! Pub looks great, ill have to break down near there sometime If youre after mega cheap breakdown cover Auto Aid are ace. £33 a year and breakdown all you want, recovery is included too. Godsend if you drive a slightly shonky motor.
