Bit of a late post but I picked this Jaguar XJ6 3.2 (X300 model) up at the start of the year. It only had 70k on the clock and came with a full mot. The only let down is the bodywork. Stuff like the arches are mint, but there's a hole in the front bumper, the passenger door has a really bad spray job, theres a rectangle thats really badly out in colour, the bonnet has some bad scratches. Most of this was caused when a garage door blew off and landed on the car at the previous owners house. The 50 shades of grey title is actually a little joke, aside from the couple of bits I have listed above, 95% of the body is great and the car look stunning The first pic at the top makes the car look great, but scrolling down, you can see its not as good as it looks in the best picture. The first thing I want to do to it is give it some nice wheels. Looking at an old RR thread the XJ40 and X300 wheel size are the same 5x120.65, but also 5x120 will fit, which opens a whole world of choices as its a bmw size. With the bodywork, I am in 2 minds, some days I would like to get it all mint and all the grey matched up properly at a paint shop. Other days I fancy doing stain black or red oxide.

Love it ! But indeed a terrible paintjob on the door! Why don't you just run it as is. i like the wheels , there's nothing wrong with them. Just run it and find out how the jaaaaaaaaaaaag is to live with on a daily budget basis and try to fix it yourself. When you thrash it , just buy another. Yup , i think i'm jealous...

To be honest, its coming up to 5 months of owning it, and thats pretty much what I have done so far, used it and left it along. I don't use it much as I get picked up in a company van each day. Fuel economy changes quite a bit depending on its use. It'll do 28-30 mph cruising at 70mph. But round the doors and going shopping it can do anything from 8-20mpg. I did have 2 weeks where the the car cut out almost everytime I slowed down to below 3mph, but it suddenly stopped doing it, I am convinced I got some bad fuel. So far the only thing I have done is remove the tape deck and fit a modern made for ipod header unit. Quite a bit of stripping the centre console was needed but there are some videos on youtube that show how to do it in the correct order which are a great help.

I will hopefully find one at some point, but this shade of grey seems to be a rare colour.

Not sure if your car has the part load breather hose at the top of the engine?? If it does replace it,, mine had the stalling issue traced to a crack in the pipe,, I've got a spare pipe if it goes again, apparently they are prone to breaking up

If it plays up again, I will check the hoses mercdan
Trouble, you have got me looking now. If the x300 and x308 models are the same, I might have found a really good door in the exact colour as mine at a decent price.

Paint it matt black with a brush, keep the ride height standard or raise it a bit if you can, and fit 'roo bars.
