I went along to the Abingdon Car-nival yesterday mainly to have a look at the sprint with a view to future entry and to say hello to horney™ (Nick). As it was sunny went in the MX-5 and as the M4/A34 junction was closed took the opportunity for a blast along the A4 (Marlborough to Newbury).
When I arrived the first car I saw was this, probably the ultimate (groan) in kit cars....
A stroll along the paddock, and this stood out
The ill fated MG super car (vanity project) can't remember it's name. Not sure what the connector is poking through the louvres either. Looked pretty good.
This Mustang looked the business.
The event is a non-spectator event so photography opportunities were very limited, of the 2 sprint courses for one you could only stand at the start line and the other you could view the initial straight and one sequence of corners.
So some panning practice
MG on the track going well.
MX-5 (not horney™)
This is him though...
Looking good.
That Mustang.
There were quite a few French cars over with a selection of Alpines,
Metro 6R4, my favourite rally car
I used to have a Hillman Avenger 1500 GLS,
but would have liked an Avenger Tiger (don't think this one was very standard though...)
It was good to see this being used in anger, complete with skids/drifts.
These pictures were taken at a sequence of bends that started with a left hander which was followed immediately by a right and then a left hand 90 degree corners.
You can see here how much the cars (well some of them) were leaning,
Not everybody got it completely right...
Left rear wheel off the ground...
... right rear wheel off the ground, (just noticed the fuel filler cover coming open as well).
A good event ended with a sun tanned face, or it could have been the wind, and next year hopefully it'll be people taking picture of me!
