So I've finally been getting round to fitting the spare Capri dash I've got. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can use to help stop it splitting in future? Couple of places I've read not to use amour all/type wipes or sprays as when they dry out it'll make it more likely to split. Thanks

The Aussie answer to cracked dashes are dash carpets which cover and protect. Ttfn Glenn

I am doing two things to protect my dash in the Escort:
1) A sun guard in the windscreen. The heat and lack of sun should help the dashboard out. 2) A new kind of interior plastic protectant ; Meguiar's Natural shine which claims to have UV protectants and 3M stuff. It also doesn't leave things super shiny which was my reason for buying it. I do keep on top of it though! Regarding the other comment that the drying out of products will make it more likely to crack there are two sides to that arguement. I know my dad's XR3i (which was an '85 like my RST) was cracked badly way back in 1993!
A dash cover is another solution or throwing a rag over the dash whenever you are away from the car. This is where having a garage does help.

Most of the time it lives in the lockup which helps and got myself one of the sun guards. 3m stuff sounds interesting - will take a look. I will hang onto the old one - as like you said smokeem getting that flocked is an option.. Lusciousthelock - what's the finish like on the leather cover? Seen the door cards on there and wondered.. Last time I enquirer to Aldridge trimming they didn't do any mk2/3 Capri stuff as there wasn't enough demand apparently!
