Engine now sold
I do have some R1 bike carbs from a low mileage bike £185 I have a Black top Alloy cover in good condition that I bought separately £40 I also have a spare shaved cam cover should you want to have exposed cam gears. £60
I also have a low mileage (80k) Omega 5 speed gearbox, but that is still attached to the 2.0 16v Ecotec vehicle it came with. It's still just about MOT'd and very much drivable £750 (will place a separate ad once I've taken some pictures). I will put a further 12 months on this car for that price...

What gearbox is on the XE, are you keeping it? Listening to that video took me back, those XE's have a very distinctive sound and it's rare it doesn't tapdance at start up. I'm 50/50 on this, because I'm after a gearbox as well!

DavidBThe FWD gearbox is available, it engages all the gears but the gear stick itself will need sorting, as it's lost the little lifter for reverse, I've just taken the boot off to move it around the driveway. You're probably going to ask me if its the f20 the Redtop comes with next, to be honest I haven't a clue. I'll have to browse the interweb and find out.

If you include it in the £300, I'll come and get it this weekend, it'll save me faffing about with buying another box, I don't want to use my 6 speed. I'm not too bothered if it's an F20, but there should be a tag on the top or F20 will be embossed on the selector casing.

Ok mate, when could you get it out?

Do it like this- you just disconnect everything from the engine, support it underneath, and then remove all the subframe bolts (usually 6 or 8 at most) and lift the car off. The subframe bolts are two on the front, two in the middle and two on the back (on the rear of the wishbone), and the gearbox mounts to the centre of the rear of the subframe. The engine pulled out through the wheel arch. It helps if the sump empties it's contents on the floor which aided with the sliding, as happened here. This took twenty minutes.

Cool i can do that, currently the vectra is storing the engine as I have nowhere for it. If you can make this weekend that'd be cool, I forgot its bank holiday Monday too if that helps.

This is back up for sale - my gearbox doesn't fit and I'm going to need to change the alt/pas pump/crank pulley for my car unfortunately, and it'll be cheaper to get an early engine. This is a very late distributor less c20xe with the most resilient block and 'coscast' head.
