Cant seem to find any flat fire retardant padding for use inside the car, it would be the foam used for roll cage padding I guess but in flat form. Where the cage is mounted to the floor in the front footwells I have these two steel box sections, I need to cover them, anyone come across this problem before or got any recommendations, thanks Jim

Fire retardant is a complex and oft misused term. Pretty much every type of closed cell foam will burn in one way or another, some being worse than others, but none of them are fantastic.
looking at the photos, you already have some foam on the roll cage (which will burn, as will the carpets, the wiring, the door cards etc etc), so the addition of a small amount of foam on the box sections will make no effective difference to the fire load or the ignition risk. if there is a fire in the car, it's going to burn.... :-(
I'm a Fire Engineer and we tend to take a pragmatic view on things, so I'd suggest you fit a bit of foam that does the job and try to avoid setting fire to stuff in the car.

Hi, don't forget people burn as well and there is more of you than there is of foam. so you're the bigger risk. Colin

I've used closed cell camping mat foam in my 924 and defender. I think that has come element of fire retardancy in it.

HTH Pete Good points Pete, I guess if I can reduce the risk or increase the time it takes that is what I am trying to do rather than make it worse. The roll bar padding I use is sold as fire retardant and the seats are the same, there is no carpet or headlining. But it never occurred to me about the original dash, wiring and door panels. Shin2chin, I will look into that foam, sounds ideal. It wont need much and it cant be restrictive. Thank you for your help
