Hi everybody, I'm Dan and this is my 02 resto mod. I've had the car four years now and have had many ideas about what to do with it while I repaired all the rust, none of them realistic ones lol. I rescued this off the back of a scrap lorry and only paid £300 for it, quite the bargain when I found out what model it was. So I've decided to stay with the m10 but stick a turbo on it and aim for 200 ponies. That should be enough for a car that will hopefully be under a ton when its finished. Anyway, here's a couple of pics as it is now and ill upload pics of when I had it later as they're on my other phone. Btw, this forum is awesome ?

That was meant to be a smiley face, not sure why it looks sad.

The forum is a better place with cars like yours. How did you find that for £300? You did fantastically well.
The car is starting to take shape. It looks the business. You idea sounds good, it beats the usual 'stick an M3 engine in it'.
Keep us updated, I will be watching your thread with great interest.

Hi, I thought this was a better place myself as there aren't so many, if any, "purists" as I don't like to be hounded for basically chopping up a round light tii.
But in the long term all the work I'm doing is reversible so I'm not worried really.
I knew the guy with the scrap lorry and he was only interested in scrap value and a bit more for it. He had picked it up with a chain through the windows tho, luckily the damage was surprisingly minimal.

WELCOME !!
Purists...?? Pahhhh and Pffftt !
I think that we all have a bit of Avery type in us.
These have always been in my top favourite list.
You have done well so far and I for one look forward to the rest of the story.

This looks great, look forward to updates.
Wide arches work very well and look great.
£300 is certainly a bargain price for one of these!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I'm glad you like it.
The car is basically rust free now, I've got to replace the rear panel and the bottoms of the rear quarters behind the wheels and that's it for rust repair.
Then there's the task of straightening/filling nearly every panel as there isn't one without a dent in it. I think this car had a hard life before being parked up as it seemed to have been crashed into a post of some sort which in turn had smashed the front subframe and smashed the sump plug off too!
It was complete when I had it and I did manage to get it running with the kugleflugel injection but couldn't drive it as the brakes were seized and the all the clutch and brake lines were perished.
I'll upload the early pics of it sometime today. I prefer to let the pics do the talking, as they say, a picture can speak a thousand words.

Very nice and looking forward to more pics. What is the rear gold/ polished wheel? They're image split rims, I've only got two at the moment as they are huffing expensive and I'm waiting for the right moment to buy the other two haha. They're 13x9 but I think I'm going to get 13x10's for the rear with a bigger tyre too, 235/45/13 on the front and 245/50/13 on the rear. Now I know it sounds daft to have all that tyre for not much horsepower but i need something to fill those wide arches hahaha, and its more so for the look I'm after with the car, i.e. Group 2 racer.
