I've thought about a really f'in loud alarm inside the car. And maybe a smoke bomb or something. I'm fairly sure you can't drive when your ears are bleeding and the car's filled with acrid smoke.

You sir make a very good point...son instead of putting the alarm siren under the bonnet.put it inside the car

I always fancied a 6 inch blade that fires up in the centre of the drivers seat, make the eyes water that would. Bit of a bummer if you forget to disarm it though

Work out what you're trying to stop. It depends if you're trying to stop idiots keying the paint, or bricking the window to see what's in the glovebox, or to stop your car being lifted onto a flatbed. Disklock remove something kinda useful to stop it being driven/pushed away (rotor arm, steering wheel/gearlever, fit wheel lock or remove a roadwheel). fit an alarm with a flashing light (or just a dummy flashing light) - any color light works fine. hidden cut-out (ignition or fuel line) make sure boot and all doors are locked when you leave the car ( if you have central locking - when was the last time you checked it does actually lock all the doors & boot?) I got a rather flash alarm by accident (as you do ), it's a normal alarm but also pages you to let you know which sensor has been triggered. Claimed range is up to 1/2 mile I like toys! www.autos.com/aftermarket-parts/pros-and-cons-of-buying-a-2-way-car-alarmKeep the car in the garage, don't let dodgy folk see it. If you need to leave it on the street, remove/hide anything tempting (satnav, toolboxes, wallet) Don't be afraid to make your security obvious! from beetle63.wordpress.com/2012/07/04/redneck-retrofit-car-alarms/But be careful not to mark the paintwork Or get creative and do your own thing

Basically just trying to stop some 14 year chav looking folk.from nicking it and trashing it..No serious car theif is gunna steal a 1986 toyota corolla.. and as for central locking I don't think toyota knew there was such a locking system In 1986 lol.. have to lock each door by pushing the pin down.or use the key on the fronts..or push the pin down and hold the handle up as you shut the door lol..

I employ a bloke to sit on my garden wall with a gun. Works a treat.
Methods I've successfully used are:
- park in garage, out of sight out of mind - disarm the car. - take the battery off or a ht lead or two
When the key snapped in the ignition of my Escort, I couldn't even lock the doors whilst waiting for a replacement lockset. To remove any chance of people have a nosy about I blocked it in with my Omega (which NEVER gets used - reminds me I need to sell it) - it was enough to keep it out of view of prying eyes!

An angry/hungry (or both!!!) Alsatian on the passenger seat should work...!
Failing that it is hard to say what would work as everything works to a degree, it is just dependent on how determined the thieves are!
I'd say that the best form of security is to store the vehicle in a secure location if that is at all possible...
Failing that making sure the car is (loudly) alarmed and fitted with a kill switch is favourite. Also, make sure it is parked somewhere well illuminated where you can be sure there is some CCTV cameras in the locale...!!!
Thieves stop at nothing to take something they 'want' as they are sub-human scum!

When Impreza thefts were all the rage about 15 years ago, there was a company who fitted a locking bolt in the transmission tunnel which locked the gearbox in reverse gear.
Can't remember the name or if they are still going, sorry.
