Not the most original `retro` but thought I would share some pics of my money pit.
I`ve had to use specialists to look after it over the last 18months and its been an eye opener to how much money you can tip into these old cars! Its in for new suspension at the minute so looking forward to Spring so I can get a run out in it.
Got a couple of mates with retros, Series 1 RS Turbo and a couple of Renault 5 Turbos so we hope to get along to some retro shows/meets.
The Golf has some nice bits on it, its had a 2.8 VR6 conversion with SHRICK intake manifold, cone filter and custom exhaust. Front brakes are from an AUDI S2. Wheels are LENSO BSX (BBS Reps). Interior has had a leather/alcantara retrim and includes electric RECAROS. Other little touches like PORSCHE door handles, G60 arches.
Would love a more leftfield retro if I had the space....

Truly gorgeous. All the right bits too. I properly lusted after an oak green mk2 golf gti for a long while in my late teens.

Cheers fellas.
It sounds bonkers on full chat too, the VR is quite a sweet sounding engine.
Despite being a bit of a VAG fanboy I love all of the old stuff, hence joining up here!

The sound of the vr6 always made me want one (rather like the sound of ny e46 m3 they sound epic) but i couldnt take the mpg everyone says is appauling on the vr6, is it really single figures when pushing on?

I`ve had VRs previously as daily`s in Corrado and MK3 Golf form and `normal` driving MPG wasn't prohibitive but the MK2 is a toy and so gets driven fairly enthusiastically when it comes out.
If the MPG is correct on the MFA (in runs MK3 Clocks) then it rarely gets out the teens, around 12 MPG can be achieved if you get a bit excited
Sounds amazing though, pops and bangs like a good`un with the mods it has.

That's so tidy but the 2.8 VR6 in it just makes it even cooler. The 5 Turbo looks mighty clean too..

That matches my colleague's mpg reports from his superb condition L plate corrado vr6.

Despite owning a 'rival' car I always fancied a Mk2 in Oak Green or Helios blue. Wonderfully prepared motorcar and a great pic with the R5GTT.

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

Cheers lads, lot of the work was already done when I got the car although a blown head gasket and spun shell bearing landed me with some big bills. Had to sort various running issues, leccy gremlins and general tidying in my ownership but its a better car than when I bought it. And I am a bit more skint in the process. Oh, and it was on steelies so I fitted the BBS reps.
I still keep thinking about chopping it in for a R5 as that was what I originally set out to get. I was so close to getting one but when the sale fell through this golf came up locally and that was that. The R5 is defo an itch to scratch at some point.
Got plenty of them itches though(Gti6 converted Pug 205, Pug 309, 20VT converted Corrado, MK1 Gti, red top MK1 & MK2 ASTRA GTEs, various old FORDS....etc...etc)
The Tungsten R5 in the pic is amazing. Its stone mint (restored and pro-detailed) and runs around 180-200bhp with properly sorted chassis, brakes etc..
Hopefully we can get them to a meet or show this year.

Apologies for the blatant pic whoring but this is one of my fave all time shots.
Unfortunately the 458 doesn't belong to me.
