looking to turbo a 1.2 skoda engine over the winter (i ask now so's i can start to gather the bits ) the usual suspects metro turbo renner5 etc the parts are getting thin on the ground and expencive  so anybody know of a turbo and carb thats common enough cheap parts etc that i can use andy |

Smaller the better with a 1200cc lump, otherwise you just get loads of lag. Look for these badboys......... T25 turbo - Volvo 400 series turbo, Saad 900/9000 (loads of these in the breakers yard  ) T2 turbo - Fiesta RST (cheap second hand because most fiesta owners upgrade to a T3) |

Something small like a Japanese K-car turbo? Suzuki Cappuccinos had a turbo 667cc engine so it should spin up pretty well. Injection though, not carbs  |

i like the idea of the fiesta turbo plenty of those about . yer tigran first thing i thought about was the metro renna 5 set up but the parts are getting hard to find and expencive . id like just a cheap scrapyard set up to see if i can get the project up n runnin keep your sujestions comin (cheap n cheerful) andy

I'd go for a set of bike carbs with custom airbox. For turbos how about a KKK off a VAG diesel they're really small.

For turbos how about a KKK off a VAG diesel they're really small. I don't think those have a wastegate, so you would need to make up an external jobbie (would push cost up by quite a bit) |

T2 or T25 will be fine and as said use a blow through SU, fpr009 fuel regulator, efi fuel pump and a return to tank
I use a simular setup on the gooon but with a larger turbo
I have 3 or 4 carbs sat here if your desperate for one, they need work though

T25's can be found in Rover 800's too. I have a couple of KKK K14 Turbos off of a Rover 218 Diesel going spare... a tenner each if you want them. They have internal wastegates.  |

ive got two good t15 turbos from a vauxhall 2000cc deisel turbo..
there quite small and I was going to use them on my imp engine as a turbo conversion but ive got other ideas now..
also I have a mg metro turbo carb for sale....

Hmmmm.
I thought you couldn't use a diesel turbo on a petrol engine because of the charge temperatures - don't petrol engines run hotter or something?
I reckon a K14 \ T2 would be a bit hardcore for a 1200cc engine. These were both used on the XUD9 engine and that was 1905cc. I think the spool up time would be a bit much, and after 150K or so the wastegates stick on the t2s \ K14s anyway.
My money would be on the turbo assembly from a stuffed Smart Car. These must be fairly numerous in scrapyards (Car Transplants in Nantwich have a couple in), or failing that the smaller turbos from the FD3 series RX7s with the sequential setup.
Or something with a small IHI unit, like a Subaru Vivio or Daihatsu somethingorother TRXX cuntychops 16.
Or a Fiat Uno Turbo i.e.
Is water cooling especially important to you as this would drive up the cost.
