Morning all.
Fairly new to the forum so apologies if this has been covered before. I thought it would be a good idea to get a list going of some of the proper scrapyards left in the UK; the ones where you take a toolbox, have a good old forage, rip some cars apart and get some bargains.
I don't know of any locally to me (Redditch, Worcestershire).
Anyone got any they would like to share?
Cheers,
Ashley

GW Bridges in pease pottage, just off the A23 near crawley. Mostly newer stuff but the odd bit from the late 80s and 90s. Chobham, the breakers on Staple Hill. Back in the day it was epic, now it's about a third of the size it used to be but still an old school scrappy. Since they got smaller there's a lot less old stuff but still a good selection.

Some cracking suggestions here, good geographical spread too. All the ones I used to go to with my dad have long since closed.
I miss going scrapdiving, used to spend whole days doing it.
Keep 'em coming, hopefully helping others too?
Cheers

Haynes of Challow, Oxfordshire. Happy to let you have a walk around, nice owners, good prices! Sadly not many retro cars anymore.

Still a fair few around birmingham. My favourites are hoppers autobreak and birmingham autobreak in Aston.
Also nelsons near Solihull is decent but mostly newer stuff and not as cheap.

Deatons Metal Centre Netherthorpe, Staveley Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S43 3PZ They had some stuff listed on ebay as well from time to time. Its an odd place to find as you go through the middle of a housing estate to get to it. Car spares is past the wooden hut/ chalet and into the nissan huts - wear shoes/ trousers and take a hi-vis if you don't want to borrow one covered in oil.

Brotherton's near Otley, West Yorkshire is pretty good, but with wildly inconsistent pricing - try to speak to one of the young lads, not the old fella (Arthur Brotherton) because he wants big money for everything.
