Never posted before because I have no real skills so I don't comment much either as anything on here is better than I could build... BUT this year (2014)after reading this wonderful website and stumbling across street cubs while googling I decided to take the plunge so hit ebay when I had recovered from the shock of what they make and not wanting to spend much in case I totally ball s it up and end up putting it in the re-cycling. £150 delivered got me this Not to bad and cheap but then as usual looked a little closer ...so much hacking and cutting and trying to use an arc welder (I think its not the one in the pictures its one you put the welding sticks in) I've ended up with this its not finished yet the seat and lights are not finished and the side covers that go over the 2 stroke oil tank and battery compartment aren't painted yet but I rode it up the path tonight for the first time across sheet ice in the dark as you do when you just cant wait. So far I've brought a rear inner tube and a dog collar (£2.50 from wilkos) to hold the air box to the frame paint and sanding disks every thing else was just scrap that was lying around the garage or re-used once I had wire brushed and cleaned it, I was a bit disappointed it was a 2 stroke (I had no idea when I brought it) as the exhaust is a bit beyond me so I have got to stick with the original so i'm at about £220 /£230 all in which is nice but got no log book or reg number so got to register it i tried checking the chassis number but not listed so probably end up on a Q plate but not bothered as hopefully should be on the rd for just over £300. I am having one small problem with the front wheel it leans to one side and I cant work out why but I'll hopefully work it out while i'm doing the seat and lights and the little bits n bobs I wouldn't mind polishing the engine but looking on youtube it looks like a lot of work. Thanks for looking

A friend had the 50cc version and his wheel leant as well, we spent ages messing trying to sort it but never managed to do it. I think basically the only solution would be 2 new suspension units at the front - I take it you have already stripped the originals and greased up everything that moves (or looks like it might move) oh and beware of rot - his bike snapped in half! The 50cc version was terminally slow hopefully the 80 has much more go, being a 2T then tuning is pretty simple.

That's cool then mine can stay leaning you just saved me lots of messing about, pretty sure I got all the rot out I cut loads out and got it down to 95% bare metal before painting so it will be my welding that snaps.

Watch it doesn't rub on the inside of the fork legs when you hit a bump riding it as his used to! Exhaust wise you should be able to find something with an expansion chamber to fit for a bit more performance.

Done the side covers and lights but a bit stuck with what to do about a seat, wish I had gone more lime green as well this colour is metallic but looks to dark.

It really shows the effort that has gone into it & great to see it coming together. Easy to imagine it metal flake or marbled effect with a brighter green, I have been painting some white house gutters dark green with a roller & they are stippled with colour variations! Current paint really looks nicely done. I love the round tail-lamp. Could the seat taper to a point with the lamp as Bee-sting? Could well imagine '70's style banana seat &/or sissy bar (raked to match frt forks), which could also include spring-loaded, drop-down luggage carrier from a bicycle.

Thank you for the kind words, seat wise i WAS thinking something along the smaller roundish single seat and maybe just shaped holed bare metal like an old tractor style but now you've mentioned about something pointing towards the rear light(which is one of the old indicators) my small brain is racing about a more sculpted affair but I know the upholstering is out of my skill set.

That looks immaculate I really want to put the bigger 4 stroke engine in mine but haven't got the money at the moment are they reliable in the long run I was a bit concerned that they might have the build quality of the cheaper mini motor bikes that flooded the market a little while ago and as I didn't have the money stopped looking at them so I didn't get tempted. My fr80 was really rusty hope yours has survived a bit better, is there lots of new parts on your Honda it looks really good condition I keep looking at the picture and looks like new think I need to do mine again.

The engine will outlast the bike, they are a really good old motor, just use decent quality 2 stroke oil and it will last and last

I meant the quality of the pitbike engines, but good to know the fr engines are good I am genuinely surprised every time mine starts as it starts really easy and the state the bike was in when I got it I thought the engine would be shot.

Well I was on a big budget, funds are always tight aren't they?? lol.... still I bought a brand new "stomp" pit-bike engine complete with all bits for £300 inc. post!! As I'm a motorcycle mechanic by trade, I worked on stomp pit-bike at my previous works, so I was impressed by the "better quality" of the Chinese motor!! ...Give them good oil, do the valve clearances, and run them in properly, and you should have no issue's!! Most things on the cub were new ,including wheels (Chinese copy's £45 each) ,tyres, shocks, lights, fairing, seat cover, and exhaust (custom made to fit a 1200 bandit can)!! My cub frame (above) was in good condition, as is my FR frame, so I've been lucky there really... I had it sandblasted back to bare metal and give it to my mate ,who painted it candy apple green... the same will be done with my FR project!! I have many FR parts that I wont be using..so if you need anything you cant find on ebay, or need any advise ,then drop me a line anytime

I am amazed you can by a good brand new engine so cheap that's why I was concerned I couldn't believe there so cheap. The only new items on mine are the strap holding the air box and a rear inner tube. Thanks for the offer of parts and advice, how much did the sandblasting cost as this is something I would like to get done on my next one when I can afford to do another, I did want new tyres as well the white wall ones but maybe i'll change them in the future.

Sandblasting cost me £20...for all the important bits, frame, swinging arm, forks, etc!! ..but that's mate's rate's ... would have cost in the region of £100 otherwise I should think!! Not a fan of the white wall tyres, best left on those hideous Harley's things.. but each to there own I suppose!!
