I have a 1990 civic 1.6i-VT, it has a full stainless exhaust with a Mongoose rear box, and a 4-2-1 tubular manifold.
Between the manifold and the rear silencer box it is a straight through pipe.
Years ago when I had the centre silencer removed as it was very quiet. Now I would like a bit of volume but the rasping noise it makes at certain revs just sounds nasty.
Am I right in thinking that the fitment of a small resonator rather than another silencer will tone down the rasping tinny sound but still allow some volume to the exhaust note?
I know exhausts are a whole science on their own, but I would just like a deep tone without the nasty edge to it.
I'm thinking I can buy a slip on resonator, cut my centre section, slip the resonator on, use exhaust clamps to attach it. The local custom exhaust garages want ridiculous money for what is less than an hours work.
Any help, information or education greatfully received.
Heres the exhaust, nothing cheap or chavvy, a quality made mongoose back box.
Cheers,
Stu
