As I understand any car older than the 1st jan 1960 is mot exempt So how do you go about driving it on the road surely with all the npr cameras you don't just hop in it you must notify them Do they need a vic check ? Has any one done it? Picture off my latest purchase for your troubles  |

I would have thought you still go throug hthe same tax process, there's just no fee to pay. Vehicles still need to be 'taxed' or SORN'd. @)

Believe it's all online so long as it's registered as a historic vehicle on the V5. But just remember it must still be roadworthy - i.e. capably of passing an MOT - the police can still request you prove roadworthiness via a safety check at an MOT station  |

I understand about the mot and that you could be sent to the test station at any time and I understand you can voluntary mot it or if you want to transfer the number plate
Just the ins and outs are a bit vauge

nothing vague about it at all.
doing it the old fashioned way, you go to post office to get tax as per normal, fill in mot exemptness form, sign it, show them insurance, tax is issued. job done.
not actually done it online yet, but i assume its not that different.
no need for a vic check, or any 'first mot to put put back on the road' rubbish as a lot of people state. ive done this myself and the car in question was on sorn as long as sorn existed, and off the road before that.
