After being let down again, I'm offering up an A series 1380 in component form for sale. I no longer have A series vehicles to use it in and need the space.
Block, Head (polished and ported), Duplex timing gear, front cover, Crank, Crank bearings, Big end bearings, Pistons and rods ( these may need replacing depending on how fussy you are), New piston, Piston rings, Rockers, Alloy Rocker cover, New oil pump. Two Kent cams a 266 and a 286
I haven't got head studs or main bearing bolts as i was going to get arp ones for these applications. I was thinking for all that i have listed £650 ovno

I agree on the price being high, some parts need alot of work or replacement due to the corrosion/pitting and to make a good engine build will still need plenty money throwing at it i'm afraid. Good luck with the sale!

Good luck with the sale! what would you say was a fair price then? I'm curious as minis are fetching stupid money ,even for dogs. some ive seen sell for over 1K i would have thrown away in the past and have broken worse, it seems as if i have truly lost touch with the fickle world of minis.

Personally, given the state of the pitting around the bottom flange, main bearings and the remains of that con rod I wouldn't buy it as it is. I'm assuming it has been stored on a damp surface for some time? You'd be better off listing the decent parts individually with proper descriptions including grind sizes, valve sizes, who did the head work etc.

Personally i would run the pistons, but replace the rods. As i have the genuine BL engine tool needed to swap the pressed in little ends, that wouldnt be an issue. I'm perhaps a bit more basic in in my nature on these things, as i would build it up if i had something to put it in and then thrash the living bejebus out of it . As it is i going to split it and throw what doesnt sell by the end of next week. I will have lost a load of money in the process, but the insults I'm getting else where is causing me to be pleased I'm no longer in the mini scene. i may be from an older time which is what makes me a bit different in my out look.

Unfortunately you will always loose money on this sort of stuff, the bills for the engine build on mine came to £2.5k. I paid £850 for it built up, tuned and surrounded by a car. My concern with the pitting would be the metal loss causing some fun and games when you come to torque the caps down. Fixing that would potentially require milling flat and line boring and you suddenly get into cheaper to buy a different block territory.
Sadly you get keyboard heroes wherever you post, oddly they are never half as gobby when you meet them in person.

Doesn't seem like a bad price to me, and it's 'ono', but would probably shift them easier in bits (always seems to be the case).
