Morning! Thought I might aswell start this up as I'm a reader and this is my ride!
It's a 1975 2 door 1300 Viva, 2 owners from new, solid body never been welded with a teeny 38,000 miles.
It's taxed, it's mot'd, it's smokey, it's awful to drive, it's my new daily
How I got her...
First things first, fix that bonnet catch! The lever had been bent way out of shape and the springy catch doo-dah wouldn't reach. So I whipped it apart, flattened the plate back out, put it all back together then the pivot bolt snapped followed by sever swear words...
So now after all that it's just held down with a bit of wire from an old vacuum...
Car was originally lime green! Very tangy! I may repaint it back to original one day but untill I get the body perfect I'm just going to keep topping up the Matt black...
The bonnet was annoying me so I removed it and give it a rough rub down, mainly focusing on the rust patches and taking them back down to bare metal and filling them with oxide primer.
A couple of patches almost turned into the whole bonnet. If of done it all back to tin but the rain was on it's way so I needed to hurry!
The girlfriend loved her new surprise ornament! The plan was to mask the raised centre and paint it red but crappy lighting lead me to having a strop and scrunching it all up...
Soooo this is how she looks now, rough n ready! Hates the motorway, 4 speed box makes for exceptional acceleration all the way to 65mph but I don't fancy taking it much further past that due to the engine screaming it's little heart out!
You can see where I ran out of paint... Thought I may aswell keep the black black and if anythin g's going to be left Red it'll be te raised section
Can wait to make it faster and louder! She's going to be a beast!
