At last! My new project has arrived after a good few months of waiting for the right moment when all the moons aligned.
It's been stored since 1999, gathering dust and spiders but underneath all the grime is a complete car. The running gear is all Ford, 1600cc crossflow with a twin choke downdraught carb, 4 speed gearbox and a nice live axle. Having never seen one on slotmags before I was quite excited by them too.
The plan is to keep as much of it original as possible, just replacing worn or broken parts with suitable new parts. I even want to keep the points rather than replace them with electronics. The older I get, the more my dislike of over-complication grows.
Grubby bodywork isn't it! The garage it lived in had a good through draught though so there's very little rust on the steel parts. Being fibreglass, the body looks new still, no signs of cracking, delamination or any other damage.
That's better! Just a quick wash was all it took. The interior is OK too after a good vacuuming.
I've started stripping parts for cleaning so as soon as I get the photos, you'll get to see them too.
