Hi all, I'm putting a XUD pug 1.9 TD engine into a Cortina MK3 estate, I want to up the power on the engine & have seen on this site that a 306HDI flywheel & cover plate will fit, is this correct? Thanks

not sure on that but ldv pilot 1.9 bits are your best bet , I'm thinking of a xud td conversion in my ldv truck with fuel and boost turnt up,.

yeah i've the complete none turbo XUd9 engine & R380 box from a LDV, the clutch driven plate is rather skinny, but It was on a van, would the LDV clutch handle a Cortina estate with 120 /140ish BHP, TD XUD9 engine?

Clutch should be fine if it's from the LDV van, what diameter is it? The Rover V8 used a 9.5" clutch on the LT77/R380 rwd gearboxes.

The driven plate is 8.5" diameter, sure the LDV van is a lot heavier, maybe it will be ok?

I'll check to see if the is a heavy duty LDV clutch...

probably need to use the ldv clutch and flywheel given youre using the ldv gearbox as I doubt its the same spline pattern as a oug ma&be boxes.
for reference td clutch is a 215mm pull type, n-a diesel uses a 200mm push clutch, 90bhp hdi I think is 230mm push clutch but the td takes more torque as standard units.
110 hdi's mostly use dmf and ml gearboxes in heavier vehicles.

Clutches only seem to come as a kit, can you suggest a company who will sell a driven plate only? thanks

The driven plate is 8.5" diameter, sure the LDV van is a lot heavier, maybe it will be ok? So you've already got the complete LDV transmission, clutch, gearbox and gear selector to attach to the Peugeot engine, so just use that! If it works in an abused van, it'll be fine in a tuned estate I think Chairchild (correct me if I'm wrong) didn't have the LDV clutch/flywheel so sourced alternative fwd compatible parts instead.

the LDV clutch is also much smaller - the HDi jobbie is much larger in diameter.
The small one is fine for the NA diesel, but add a turbo on, and you'll need the bigger one

bigger is not always better, the 306 lads have had more success with the 215mm TD clutch than the 228mm HDI clutch.
pilot used a 215mm clutch BTW.

I think these may be compatible with the LDV clutch/flywheel if you're feeling adventurous! link

I guess the clamping force of the pressure plate counts for a lot...

To be honest I think there are a lot of factors that would dictate which would be most suitable to pursue. One of the main factors is your driving style. Surface area, pressure plate pressure, heat dissipation are all notable factors
My personal opinion would be go with what you've got, if it isn't upto the job you'll know pretty quick then can upgrade.

just tested a 306td pressure plate, and found the pressure to deflect it is the same as the LDV jobbie...

quite likey to be identical I guess, just the 23 spline for the ldv box and 18 in the pugs
