Ok,
Here's my second little project, it's as the title says. I bought this car from a TV and film company in Hemel Hempstead. It's a very solid little car, it's got a mint front and rear subframe. It needs some bodywork and interior attention but at present I use it regularly. It's a great little car to drive and extremely smooth on the road, it's better than most modern cars but I guess that's down to the Hydro elastics.
Haven't done anything much to it yet, purely been enjoying it on the road but the plan is a nice little restoration back to near standard. Not planning any mods on this one as I think it's cute enough.
Opinions welcome.
At a PistonHeads meet, oh the irony with a car park full of GT cars.
With the MK1 Cavalier and my stepdads MGB.

Nice cars - all of them! Was watching season 14 of Midsomer Murders (episode 83 - Dark Secrets) which features an Austin the same colour as this - could it be the same car?

Good question, the answer is quite possibly. I have no idea really. The company had loads of vehicles and were having a clear out. I just fell in love with it.

I have been enjoying my Austin this Summer and it is fantastic to drive as all of those who've driven one will probably agree. However, now that it's getting close to the end of the season, it's time to think about starting to improve it. It is in good strong structural condition, unfortunately it is a little cosmetically challenged. Here are the main issues close up on the bodywork. o/s/f wing which is looking a little sorry for itself. Rear of the o/s/f wing with another hole! Close up of the front and as you can see it's crusty around the headlamps and the front bumper has lost it's chrome shine. N/s/f wing, isn't quite as bad as the other but is still showing signs of age. Rear of the n/s/f wing with a big crusty part. The n/s/r wing with its pebble dashed look. The bootlid has a crazed effect on the paintwork so that will need to go. O/s/r door has a hint of blue on it, so not sure if it was ever blue at one point. Slight hole on the drivers floor plan. On a brighter note here's the interior that doesn't look at all that bad for nearly 50years old I don't think.

Hi Nice car mate it's good that you intend on keeping it original , I have gone well for from standard with my car but each to there own , I would do a bit more inspection around the inner foot wells looking at the rust and hole in the floor in many cases is not a good sign you might find the the flutes that run water away from the scuttle that are built within the inner wheel arch bulk head area are also shot , Take out the front carpets for a full inspection I hope you have got a good one but it's worth the look before you start spending money on wings the film set bit is also very interesting , You can also join the ado16 forum they are a good source of support
