I'm not sure which section to put this in for the best as it's not my car, but a customer's. However, I thought it was something that may interest a few people.
Anyway, we had the job of restoring a MK2 16v engine bay to "as new" condition. The rest of the car had been treated to a full respray etc previously, but the owner wanted to do something about the rather grubby-looking engine bay which rather let down an otherwise as-new looking Oak Green MK2 16v.
Here is a quick before and after shot
The engine was of course removed and the engine bay was repainted. All seam sealer work etc was done to exactly replicate what was there before from the factory
Then the engine and components were stripped down. Parts were powder coated as applicable
And then components were stripped and Zinc Plated to OE specs
Then the front subframe was stripped and rebuilt. This wasn't part of the original job, but as the rest of the front end was being done it seemed a shame to build everything back up on top of a dirty old front subframe and the customer agreed.
Then every assembly was stripped and rebuilt
Then things started to go back together
Any parts that were substandard were replaced
All new OEM decals fitted
Ended up looking just like it rolled out the showroom
Powder Coating was done in-house. All work was carried out in-house with the exception of the Zinc Plating
