Hi, I've just joined the forum. I'm a massive fan of old cars, and was super happy to find this place.
I'm very interested in selling my old Toyota HiAce.
It's a beautiful 1982, extended length, 2.2L Diesel, column shift 5 speed manual transmission... should tick a lot of boxes for the right person. It averages about 35 MPG, which is exceptional for a car this size.
I found this website when I was doing a google search for "cool old hiace", and I came across a guy who cut off and rewelded pretty much the entire lower 1/3 or so of a really similar van. I figured if someone was willing to put that much effort into the restoration of one that had some major rust issues, someone else might be really chuffed at the possiblilty of getting an almost entirely rust free one (with only 100,000 miles on it).
That being said, I'm currently living in Japan, and the car
is with me. I've been using it as my band car for a bit more than 4
years now.
I have exported lots of cars to Canada without any problems, and I have acustoms / shipping company that I work closely with. If someone decides that they'd
like to purchase it, then I will be able to arrange shipping for them seamlessly.
The interior is in decent shape, no rips in the original front seats. The dash has a crack in it, and the cd player in the photos will come with the car, but it's not hooked up
Even the original HiAce floor mat is in good shape.
The interior has a wooden bench in it which folds out to be a bed frame. I have slept in the van many times and loved every minute of it.
The back seat has no seatbelts. They were not required for rear seats at the time this car was built, as it is licensed as a commercial vehicle. It's not the original rear seat, either, I don't think, it smacks of '90s.
I believe, but can't guarantee, that it can pass an MOT in it's current state, as it is currently able to pass the Japanese "shakken" inspection, which is likely very similar.
I'm quite certain that the person who decides that this is the right car for them will be over the moon when they receive it.
If you are interested, please PM me with your address, and I can provide you with a quote for the transportation.
These vans are getting super rare, Diesel ones even moreso. I hope it can find a home where someone will love it.
