Buy a new one..... you never know whats hiding in a 2nd hand cooler, no matter how you clean it, it just takes one little spec of cr-p to go thru your bearings and goodbye engine, I speak from experience, many years ago we blew a Small Block up, the car was taken to a pro builder who built a Big block up for the car, never bothered to change the cooler, Then wiped the engine out comprehensively on the rollers.

Atmo V8 Power . No slicks , No gas + No bits missing . Doing it in style. Austin A35van, very different------- but still doing it in style, going to be a funmoble

They do look cool, but then, I am slightly bias ;-)
Just wondering, are they legal to hang off the front bumper?

Hi, not doubting the wisdom of that at all, but aren't they usually plumbed in just before the filter so anything coming from it would also have to pass through the filter before getting into the engine?

Paul H I thought RR was about inclusion even of the pointless and silly, rather than exclusion because it's a bit "barry". I used a 200SX diff oil cooler on my Micra, the S13 and S14 have them allegedly they don't work very well and a lot of people ditch them so they can often be picked up for next to nothing or in my case FREE I've also got a Saab 9-5 oil cooler knocking around somewhere too... TBH it's worth going down the local breakers and checking out BMW's and other higher end stuff as they often have PAS or engine oil coolers under the front bumper. It appears I'm a bit Barry

The diff oil cooler that sits behind the rear drivers side wheel on the Nissan S14's is ideal. They rarely even have used oil in them let alone shards of shattered engines so no worries there! I've got one to hunk on the front of my Herald estate when it's done :-)

Paul H You'd have to be pretty damn stupid to think people driving around on the road with exposed oil coolers had them plugged in... on a race track sure thing the parts only need to last a race and you take a risk for cool oil... on the road, that is just kinda foolish.

^^^^ There's plenty people drive round with exposed rads/ air filters ram pipes/ intercoolers etc I didn't think this was any different, just thought people couldn't work out how to mount them neatly and/ or shorten pipes or clip them up.... I guess i'm not very 'scene'

I must be getting old I can appreciate most mods to cars....but I really don't get why you'd want to stick a fake oil cooler on the front? Sorry to offend

I guess i'm not very 'scene' I like the idea that bosozoku cars are 'scene' ... does three or four not quite in the style of cars in the UK make a 'scene'?

thanks for the input guys and thanks for the offer duckdown. I'm really looking for a large one like in the pics in the first post. I'm hoping to source one from a scrapyard before the weekend if at all possible. I don't plan on using it to cool oil, it's just for a bit of fun at a car show over here in Ireland. I haven't seen many Bosozoku inspired cars over here so I'd like to try it out.
The Saab/BMW suggestions are good leads, I'll have a scout around the scrappy tomorrow.
