Big up y'all,
Those of you who know me will no doubt have been bored to death at some point by me telling you my Dad owns a 1955 Ford Thunderbird. Sorry about that, I like to talk about it, it's rather lovely after all.
With that loveliness in mind, I recently grabbed the opportunity to finally get the car featured in a magazine, namely ACM which is published by the same company I work for. It's not out yet (hell, I've not even written it), but I'm confident it's going to make a good looking feature, as these teaser snaps from Bruce (Mystery Machine) go to show. Both Dad and I are blown away with the pictures - the old girl's never looked so good!
Dad's had the car for around ten years. It was an export model which went straight to Jersey once built. It lived there its entire life before my Dad go it. Since then, lots of filler, newspaper and chicken wire have been removed. The mechanicals have been completely overhauled, the exhaust has been rerouted to clean up the lines at the rear, the engine has been rebuilt to include an Edelbrock tri-carb setup, there's some pin-striping, some new upholstery and most recently, a set of Radir tri-spoke alloys. Oh, and there's a teardrop trailer being built to match. Apart from the tri-carb setup (which was built in the States) it's all been done by my Dad. Sadly I have inherited none of his technical abilities as my propensity toward killing cars suggests. Ah well.
The full feature will be in June's copy of ACM in a few weeks. Until then, enjoy these snaps.
The man himself with his pride and joy...
Chris
