Just bought a turbo'd motor and it has a HKSV2 blow off valve, but being past a certain age I find it rather tw@tish sneezing every time i lift off the gas. Anyone have any suggestions on a better sounding(quieter) type or should i just delete it?

Just mount it inside a bean tin or wrap some foam around it to muffle the tshhhhhhhhhhhh.

What engine is it? With the VAG 1.8t lumps it's widely known/accepted that the factory recirc valves are about the best option in terms of performance on the basis that they don't leak at all, while most shiny flashy ones do. Being a recirc valve they're pretty quiet. They're about £35 from the main dealers if I remember right. I'd be tempted to just fit one of them in anything up to about 2 liters.
Must get around to fitting one on the Scirocco, but it is occasionally fun being a small child and making wooshing noises.

My Porsche came with a diaphragm based recirculating BOV. They can be prone to splitting causing boost issues. Apparently the Porsche 993 item is said to be the item to go for in terms of longevity.
Some people seem to love them, others hate them, but the Bailey DV30 in my car (a recirculating valve) seems to be fine).

It's a b4194t so 2.0, I have no experience with them so no ideas what to swap it for or put back to standard. It is running different cams though

Ive always thought the best sounding dump valve was a Bailey with the tension wound up as tight as it will go, so it only dumps if you're really giving it some stick.

Like you say, they can split, but then a new one should last a good few years, and being quite a bit cheaper than aftermarket ones, as well as service free and the fact they definitely seal properly makes up for it in my eyes. |

Nothing sensible to add but my new car has a noisy one and I really quite like it.
Bwaaaaaap ptish (flames).
When the novelty wears off I'll suggest a solution.

Mine came on the Impreza I bought, and it was dumping everytime I lifted off the pedal, at whatever RPM. I put a stock recirculating valve on, and it was so much better to drive. A fella came into my garage the other day as his dump valve wasn't going tishhhh, he was desperate for it to do that. |

This depends. With some boost added to aid power, the stock 944 are not long lasting. The 944 and Audi items are said to be similar as are the items on Saabs which are said to be the same valve. The 993 item however uses a piston instead and can quite happily take 20PSi in its stride because causing any issues . |

Surely if not vented or recirculated its going to cause problems. I don't want a big flashing message saying danger to manifold like in fast and furious.....  |

Anyone have any suggestions on a better sounding(quieter) type or should i just delete it? Try getting hold of an MR2 turbo or Celica GT4 recirc valve (any 3s-gte will do). I had a similar concern when I got my Mk1 MR2 off Bruce. I replaced the noisy and ineffective after market version (no offence intended, I'm sure it wasnt Bruce's choice) with a standard Rev2 turbo item. The standard item flows more than enough, was very simple to plumb and sounds similar to a 90s group A rally car, a lovely inoffensive chirp just behind the left ear of the driver which is almost inaudible from outside. Another benefit was that it cost £30 including plumbing, hose clips and postage. |

Saab 9-3s have a recirc valve and they can handle large power, I took mine out and my MPG dropped rapidly thanks to my childish right foot!
