Someone take this before I change my mind and end up keeping it! I've wanted one of these for ages and when I finally found one I decided I didn't like it. But...... having driven it a bit I'm it's starting to really grow on me, but my wife hates it being on the drive.
1986 Volvo 240 GLE, 2.3 carb, 5 speed manual with a delivery date of 02/01/1986.
MOT - 15 Nov 2014
Tax - 30 Jun 2014
Flew through the last MOT with 2 minor advisories - dust cover deteriorated and slight misting of oil in one shock.
The car shows 52k on the clock but the readout no longer works. Previous MOTs show the mileage increasing so I can only assume the failure is recent. Speedo and rev counter both work A1.
Leccy front windows work, front heated seats work and leccy pass mirror works - driver's doesn't but just press the glass to move. There's no stereo and the rear speakers have been removed leaving 2 hols in the rear shelf. It's wired up for a boom box in the boot should you so desire one - to each their own!
The wheels have been refurbed and painted gloss black and the boot lid has been painted mat black, but is the original lid. To go with the dark look the front indicator lenses are dark and there's a bit of trim missing at the front and back. The idea was to get black trim but the original trim is in the boot.
The paint is very good - I just threw a bit of water over it to clear the Saharan sand we've been getting; an afternoon's work on the paint would really do wonders in my opinion. It's had a recent carb rebuild/clean, new fuel pump, distributor, drive belts and oil/filter change.
She starts well, stops perfectly and is really willing and fun to drive. She pulls really nicely and the clutch feels new such is the sharpness of the bite. A minor bit of interior and exterior detailing would really do wonders to this old girl. She's a really solid old girl - any marks you can see in the pics are either blossom petals or water from me dousing the sand off.
