...a new car from a British entrepreneur, built to celebrate great design and all that is British. Or so they say. It had its official unveiling today (still going on as I type actually) to an eager press. It's pretty enough, nice lines so on and so forth. It's based upon a Jag XK so it should go like the clappers and be reasonably good fun to drive. The workmanship looks to be deeply impressive too, as can be observed in the video from XCAR posted below. Before we get to that though, here's a picture or two... I'm sure more will come in due course. Oh, and here's the video... Yes, it's a modern car in one sense, but there's no denying its retro influence. The question is, what do you lot make of it? Personally I can't decide if I like it or not, but I think that's down to the wheels as they really don't work in my eyes. Other than that, it's pretty impressive. Though it's always great to see workmanship like this. Chris

Erm, it looks like a 'not-very-well' modernised DB6. I guess that's entirely the point, but it kind of ends up looking like those awful '50 Ford Shoebox front and rear ends you could get to graft onto a 90's Thunderbird. Something in the proportions just isn't quite right and it ruins the whole concept for me. Also, large knock-off wires and lo-pro tyres simply don't go together. I will agree though, that interior is lovely and it does look incredibly well put together.

That's got about as much class as the cast of Geordie Shore. Looks like a DB7 kit car that Stevie Wonder has tried to make look like a DB5.

It is a beautiful car - but it is based on one of the prettiest cars of all time - which I personally think is its downfall...trying to mimic a real icon as far as styling goes never tends to work - a bit like on x-factor where someone will sing, I dunno say an Adele song, even if they have a really powerful voice they will struggle to match it...its a bad choice.
That said, it is still really nice, if the headlamps were slightly more upright as per the Aston I think it would help no end, looks a bit odd to me!
I give it a C+ - gorgeous, but a bit like a MR2 with a ferrari kit - if its going to be your car, make it your car, don't copy!

It looks pretty good but it is like a low-imagination movie remake in a way...
A well known name and theme has been used to make this more desirable much in the same way The Sweeney movie last year was (not the best comparison but it makes sense to me)!
I think using the David Brown name is not really necessary as it isn't an Aston Martin (but then Aston Martins aren't really Aston Martins these days I suppose?!) and although it has a myriad of DB styling cues it needn't have them at all as it could be gorgeous all on its own.
There is a good car under all that, it just seems to have been spoiled a bit in the fact that it is trying to be something that it really doesn't need to be...
I hate being less than complimentary as I could never design and build a car, so I doff my cap to these people, but all this reminds me of (and I do hate myself for saying this) is one of those Nissan Micra's that has been done up to look like a Mk2 Jaguar...!!!
I'd be interested to see how much one of these costs...
Good on the whole but it really needs to be itself rather than something else...

Crikey you lot are quick to get the pitchforks out today!
I couldn't put my finger on it right away, but I think it's the rear view mirrors that are bugging me.
Ditch them for something smaller and more in keeping and I think it's a lovely looking thing. Err and the wheels - needs wheels obviously - and lows - needs moar lows - and maybe a stickerbombed wing - and a roof rack. But other than that absolutely yes.

Agree with EmDee about the mirrors, I think the realtionship between the wheelbase and the wheels doesn't quite work either. Maybe stretch the wheelbase a touch, or reduce the wheel size a touch?

The mirrors and the wheels are hmmm, but I also think that the front grill area sits too far forward as well. Shame as it will have been built by some very skilled people and the quality of the fit and finish looks superb. But more importantly, is ejector seats, oil sticks and machine guns behind the indicators on the options list

The only negative for me is I refuse to sit on leather or have any leather trim. So if they will make one with M-Tex or other none leather then it'd be on my shopping list after a Lottery win as otherwise perfect.

It'll sell well in China and the Middle East, which I suspect is their aim.

Doesn't look as good as the Jag it's based on, or as good as the Aston Martin it wants to be, which begs the question, 'Why?'
On a positive note, it does look well crafted and finished.

I quite like it, but if it's gonna cost as much or close enough to the price of a Aston Martin, I can't see them selling many. I wonder how much it'll cost?

I looked at the pictures and thought it was horrid, and looked at the video... mind changed. At some point you see the car on standard XK wheels, it's better-looking that way imo.

Morgan are doing rather well over there, with the 3 Wheeler no less. That's an intimate chauffeur situation. Chris

I think those chrome wires are simply well-made hubcaps on matt black steel wheels. There's not depth to them, neither in the pics nor in the video.

I didn't like it this morning, but the more I've seen it, it's growing on me, other than the wheels.
I guess the headlamp/grill arrangement is to meet pedestrian safety that an original db wouldn't have had to.
I didn't like the proportion of the the roof line to the rest of the body, but it's seems better the more you look at it!

I hate to be negative on this forum, but you did ask for comments! It doesn't work for me at all. I'm right with Fogey. I appreciate the effort and skill, but the result is like those kitcar body conversions : the entire restyle has been comprised by working within the limitations of the base vehicle. I'll take the standard XK, please. Or for my penance :
