Okay, so who watched it then?
I did and I enjoyed it. Took me right back to being a kid and going to Bovingdon raceway with friends and family. Great times.
I think that’s the thing, yeah it’s a shame seeing some of the cars destroyed but come on, admit it, it is entertaining to watch and did you see the state of what they were starting with? The unlimited bangers were realistically only worth fragging anyway unless you wanted to pump five figures into them.
Thing that I was reminded of was the enthusiasm by everyone involved and passionate about doing their hobby and putting on a show, something I’d kind of forgotten amongst the negativity that surrounds the sport.
A good bit of TV I thought and well produced. Will definitely be tuning in next week.

It was good, didn't think much of the sound effects but hey, that's TV. Took me back to my ministox days, really makes me want to get down the local oval this year at some point.

Yeah I caught this after Top Gear. As said I thought it was a good watch, but did it make me want a go.......hell no! Seeing the in-car shots of someone getting smashed into at high speed and their head bouncing around all over the place had quite the opposite effect on me actually!

As I have posted some negative things about banger racing I think I will even the balance of my posts with a positive post... there should definitely be more banger racing on telly must be cheap for the production companys to make and is some of the best entertainment in motor sport, I would love to watch some good full contact racing from the comfort of my sofa.

Seeing the in-car shots of someone getting smashed into at high speed and their head bouncing around all over the place had quite the opposite effect on me actually! agreed on the soundtrack/effects, I watched it in iplayer after watching top gear, and the sound effect of breaking glass every time something hit something else was just annoying. no idea what the 'sound people' were thinking when the people featured in the program mention that all glass is removed before racing the cars ... reasonably entertaining other than that - the defence of "it'll be scrapped anyway" works on some of the cars I saw, but I'm suspicious of some of the others - the Daimler/Jag for '£300' was worth more than that surely, smelt a bit of hi-ab to me.

V8 engines over dubbed the in car Mini. Good TV, not quite as good as the Stock car one a couple of years back.

Yes Fred figure of eight was around, most tracks had it and some still do. I used to love it at Crayford and Wimbledon.

Didn't make me want to have a go, no, because of the 'wreckers'. Contact racing in banger cars is exciting and interesting, purposefully smashing your own hard work into the hard work of other racers just for the adrenaline rush of it seemed a bit pointless to me.
However, Ministox looked like a lot of fun, that I'd like to have a go at even though I'm twice the age of the competitors (well, physically at least).

I don't think you quite understand this bit, this has always been a part of the sport and the rodders accept that. Do you not think it makes winning the race more rewarding knowing that there's people trying to stop you? I'll be totally honest, it's exactly what I'd be doing if I'd carried on doing bangers after stock cars.

I can understand why some people would find that challenge rewarding, it would just annoy the balls off me.

I know it may start up that old argument again but, 240 Mk1 &2 Granadas destroyed in one race meeting!!! And don't tell me that all of them were acquired legitimately and that all were only fit for scrap! I'm not a big Ford man, but it made me sad

I have said before bit of a mystery how you can race a car with no chassis plates reg docs or plates or proof of purchase details in this day and age is amazing and I may sound like I don't like banger racing but for sure banger racing was the first motor sport I had any experience with and I still love the full contact racing more than any other car racing and would much rather spend a sunday watching banger racing than F1 and although I was born in the 70s granadas don't hold any special place in my hart BUT COME ON I saw I think 2 Granada coupe fast back 2 door things and that did make me wince a bit. Although if they were in the same state as the one the old bloke with white hair number 555 used the track was probably the best place for them.

I'm not a big Ford man, but it made me sad This comes down to the same old argument, their cars to do with as they please, the one dragged out of the garden in Kent wouldn't have been worth the money, time or effort to put back on the road, which would probably be the same for most of them, no one mentions the mondeo's ect that got smashed up last week, with the oldest mondeo around 20 years old now.
