The V5/V5C is a Certificate of Registration and is owned by the DVLA. Once a vehicle is no longer registered, through scrapping, breaking up, or through radical alteration under the 8-point system, the V5C Certificate must be returned to the DVLA.
eBay already pulls adverts which contain the sale of Logbooks without the relevant vehicle/chassis/monocoque shell, once spotted/reported.
