Paypal will refund your money, whether he agrees to refund you or not.

BUT; If you want them, I'd certainly try and be reasonable and accept a part refund, they won't cost a great deal to mend, if indeed they need correcting at all.

Those wheels are definitely repairable.

Its mainly cosmetic damage from what I can see to the back lips that have no relevance to the useability or aesthetics of the wheels once fitted.

Tbh I don't think the seller was knowingly incorrectly advertising the wheels as the reverse of wheels are never really fully inspected or considered, unless of course they have really bad easily identifiable damage...He did say they have curbing and marks tbf.

The flat spot will need repairing if it doesn't correctly balance, but tbh as said, I'd see if they balance first, I'm assuming they hold air?

You don't need to worry about the safety of the wheels, if they hold air and balance up, they're perfectly safe to use.

If you're interested, I know an excellent refurber who is very reasonably priced, he's in Lincoln but he doesn't mind them being couriered/returned.

I ALWAYS buy wheels unseen, in the knowledge that they'll need a refurb so unless a wheel has a buckle, excessive damage or the description is completely wrong then I'd accept imperfections myself as they're used wheels and will need refurbishing to look mint anyway.

If it was genuinely unexpected then ask for a part refund you'll be happy or get a full refund.

FWIW it is your responsibility to pay for returning the wheels.

Soiunds like the beat of a bad situation and just a diffrence of opinions on quality , hope you get a god set of rims instead 1!

Take the £50 partial refund, get them balanced and run them, those wheels will be absolutely fine, even the crappest quality wheels wouldn't crack with the damage in the photos.

Thanks for finding that out. Decided that I would take the £50 refund offered. Not sure what I will do with them yet. Might just refinish the fronts, so they look tidy, punt them on (with the dents mentioned) and see what I get for them. I don't think I can be fussed with spending more on them.

I would fit each wheel to a hub on the car while on stands, then spin each one while looking at how round it is, the front face will most likely be fine but if the rear has gone egg shaped to any degree then they might not balance up very well

Our mk1 mx5 came with mk2 14" tsw wheels, and one of the rear ones had a dent like yours in its rear face, it was drawn to my attention at its mot, it wasnt a fail and it wasnt put in as an Advisory but having taken it to a tyre place it could never be balanced perfectly on a balancing machine, you could feel the vibration from it at around 60mph, in fact most likely because of that the shocker failed on that corner too

I effected a slight repair by using a bottle jack and some blocks of wood inside the rear of the wheel and gently trying to force the dent back, had this been a steel wheel there would have been no problem at all but with alloy, well you just cannot tell if there is a breakage likely to occur / or cracks within, I made it slightly better but in the end and fed up with the vibration, bought another set of wheels and a mate took the old ones for banger racing.

There's a warning on ebay to not resolve sales outside of the auction - you won't be covered for any refunds because of it.
I think it's your duty to check before you buy, and if you can't then don't buy them (I always put this in any auction ad) - sold as seen. It's a risk you have to take sometimes, and it can go messy, as it has here. Sorry!
