edit - SOLD
For Sale - VW Passat 1.8T Estate – 1999 / V Reg.
The Good –
Long MOT – expires 16th October 2014.
Taxed – expires 31st March 2014.
Only 2 previous owners – last owner has the car from 2002 to 2013.
Runs and drives really well, surprisingly quick, but then again it’s the same 1.8 turbo 20v engine they fit in the Golf GTi.
Remote Alarm / Central Locking.
Electric Windows.
Climate Control.
Alloy Wheels.
Service History from about 2004 onwards – last owner spared no expense, several main dealer service bills for £1000 plus.
The Bad –
Was hit while parked in a car park a couple of years ago and deemed an uneconomical repair by the last owners insurance company so has a Cat D marker on HPI, but the dent was minor (see photos), so the last owner took the payout from the Insurance Co and carried on using it as it was. The dent didn’t bother me so I’ve just ignored it as well. It has been VIC tested and MOT’d since then so no problems for the new owner - unless you need finance to buy it ;-)
Rear tyres are legal but only have a few thousand miles left in them. This was an advisory on the last MOT. Spare tyre is almost new so you could put that on and use one of the worn rear ones as a spare?
The Ugly –
Dent in the rear near side door and wheel arch as above.
The ‘Service Due Now’ light comes on when you switch the ignition on but goes off after 3 seconds – I changed the oil in October but don’t know how to re-set the service indicator.
It’s done 154k miles – but still runs very well and doesn’t smoke or leak oil.
Rear Wiper has a mind of it’s own, so does the temperature guage – both work some days and not others, never bothered to try and fix either.
It’s got the original Radio Cassette – radio works but can’t say if the tape player does as I haven’t owned any tape cassettes for years!
I bought it as a winter hack / parts chaser and it’s been brilliant for that. The last owner was a mate of mine who I work with who has had the car for years so I knew it was a good one. Only selling as I have three other cars and I’m looking for a Landrover so just don’t need this any more.
No longer has the ‘private plate’ in the pictures – now back on it’s original registration number – V283DGH.
£395 for a quick sale.
