I watched Father Brown this afternoon and was thrilled to see it set at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb featuring several VSCC cars and being used as a backdrop to a cunning murder. It started with a very nice GKN I think and also featured a Napier Railton and an SS Jag possibly as well as others and not only did you get to see some smoking starts off the line but you got to ride up part of the hill in two different cars as well. I was surprised at the amount of coverage they gave to the cars and the site which makes it well worth watching at least for the first 15 - 20 mins anyway. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03q5vljThis was the Napier-Bentley featured in it.

Ha Ha, I was wondering what the RRG14 Venue was like. I didn't expect to find out in this way though! I haven't seen any announcement as such about a change of venue, that is the proper Gathering website thought isn't it? -Steve-

I remember watching an episode of The Saint many years ago (good retro content with his Volvo P1800) The story revolved around a conflict between two small specialist car manufacturers, one represented by a Marcos, the other by a Gilbern (or was it a TVR? anyway, you get the idea) Whichever of these two succeeded in winning an upcoming rally was guaranteed a golden future with a major manufacturer whilst the other was condemned to perpetual obscurity. Needless to say the baddies employed all sorts of underhanded techniques to ensure success and their Dick Dastardly like M.D. proceded to trounce the opposition, win the event by a handsome margin and secure the future of his thoroughly undeserving enterprise. Not so fast! In strides Simon Templar, "de dada do da da", deftly throwing open the bonnet of the winning car to reveal that it is,in fact the underdog! He and the good specialist car manufacturer had toiled through the night to swap the body of the baddies car onto the under pinnings of the good guys car and had thereby won the event fair and square, the bad guy of course hadn't noticed a thing! Baddy gets arrested, goody gets cigar, champagne and a lucrative contract, the Saint gets the girl. They don't make them like that any more! God bless Lou Grade.
