Wow, I've just realised two things. Firstly how long it's been since I last saw one and second just how cool they can be. Thankyou for the awakening.

Does anyone have a link to that awesome build thread where that guy was doing the amazing bead rolling on a 2cv? You know the one I mean right!? www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=647297Thanks, that's given me something to read this evening - I'd completely forgotten I had it bookmarked to watch the progress Edit:

Thanks Brian , I didn't realise Dyanes started that early
That rear engined v6 looks like a bit of an animal
What was yours like to drive lowered? Everyone says (on forums) turnes arms are a must.

No thank YOU tofufi! Same here, got some reading to catch up on - although I've already ruined it for myself by going straight to the second last page and checking out those pics of the finished article! FABulous!

Mine drove really well lowered, even with my 19-stone bulk behind the wheel. Steering was a bit heavier, that's all. Any lower than that and you'd run into problems, though.

must admit that the charms of these has grown on me, and looking back over your time with the red beasty Brian, they seem better equipped to cope with modern traffic than I gave them credit for. Would love to try one fitted with the BMW bike engine conversion thats been developed

I don't know too much about them except over the years I've got to realise how cool they can be. That german grey 2cv with the green steels- lovely. One thing I saw and often think I'd like to copy is the guy at Sparrow who does BMW bike engine kits for 2cvs/dyanes. This vid of it owning on the track is so full of win it's not even funny My take would be to do get one of those Louis Barber 4x4 galvanised chassis kits then mate that to a nice BMW engine and plonk on a nice light plastic Mahari body. Superlight superfast go anywhere funmobile! Oh [edit] - found some bonkers Dyanes in this vid of a 24 hr race at SPA - how cool is that?

Bike engines mehari would be fun, have you seen the price o Megaris though?? GS engined Dyane was popular google "sidewinder". We've got a 1958 Deuche, but it's staying standard with its 425cc lump!

That black BMW powered one of Sparrow's is amazing Can just picture the faces of the hot hatch drivers as it trounces them in to and out of the corners And it leaves behind the AMG C63 merc as well

My Dad raced 2CVs in the 70s and 80s. My brother has many slammed 2cvs and Dyane's during the 90s. A cheaper option than the BMW engine is the Ami Super or GS Engine.
