I'm running 13x7 Capri wheels with an offset of 5 on my 205. Standard 205 wheels are 15-20 offset. The car now tends to dive around under breaking and if you drive over white lines etc. Also the steering feels a little dead with no weight to it. I assume this is to do with the larger scrub radius created by the change in offset. The question is, is there an easy way to counteract this? I've read on a forum somewhere that an increase in toe-out will help, is this true? Anyone have any experience? There is a company that modifies 205 hubs for an increase in -ve camber which I suppose will decrease the SR and help but if I can find a cheaper method that will give an improvement that would be great. I accept that there will be some element of trial and error but a starting point would be great.
The car.

Not really, wider wishbones would help as they change the steering angle, but not much else.

Yeah, there's not much you can do about it besides higher off-set wheels. Making sure all your joints are in good condition will help reduce the effect though, any slack in the rack/rack ends/rod ends will exaggerate it. You could use off-set top-mounts to increase the SAI (moving the top mount pivot inboard) but the increase in SAI has negative effects its self.

Tyres with bigger radius can reduce the scrub radius.
Lowering might not change the scrub radius, but might give you more steering feel due to the extra camber.

I wonder if an increase in castor might help, in a straight line if nothing else. I know on later 106's they increased the castor a bit by moving the strut tops back towards the bulkhead. Did they do anything similar on 205's ? Could some material be removed from the wheels to fix the offset a bit possibly.

You can get top mounts which allow you to adjust the caster on 205s. Whether they work with stock struts is another question.
