...and hilarious voiceover...
Car has made this noise for over a year, not getting any worse, but damned annoying.
You'd have space left on the back of a stamp if you wrote what I know about these cars...any thoughts on what's going on?

The "nasal" whine? Supercharger noise. More than usual. Does it have the standard air filter and element (no K & N fitted?) and are all the induction pipes on properly?

Yep - I recognise the whine but it's much, much louder than it should be. Will have a look tomorrow...

Charger for sure. How serviceable are these?

Isn't the whine the power steering too?

I would also say supercharge as well in this instance.
The PAS does make a noise, but it tends to be higher pitched than the noise in the video and it tends to increase in volume via steering being applied.
There is an offchance that it may be an alternator/pulley issue (I.e, the one way clutch or rubber cushion pulley (where fitted) on the alternator has gone up the spout although taking the belt off in this instance to check for that will not be as simply bar turning the pulleys and seeing if things operate as they should, with no play or roughness, including the one way clutch working as it should.

Steering has no impact on noise so it's not that.
How long can it go on like this? I've no experience with superchargers - it's been making this noise for about 18 months and it isn't getting any worse. Is there a risk of it going bang? What happens if it fails?

To me that is the noise that they normally make but usually it is better silenced, which is why I suggested checking the air filter and duct-work.
