Evening all,
So the story goes something like this.
Car develops a minor misfire - but manages to get through MOT despite running rough and overfuelling.
I change out the coil pack and HT leads (guaranteed working from another car) but in the process break one lead, replace it with an old one...car develops a misfire at 1500rpm that is incredibly lumpy and uneven. Not good.
So purchase new HT leads and plugs whilst retaining the salvaged coil pack. Now the car has a misfire between 3-5000-odd revs. It just feels gutless. The low-down misfire is gone but when I put the foot down nothing happens. Nada. Zip.
My only thought was that the HT leads supplied I have found, on inspection, were for an older alternator setup (including the extra ignition coil wire) which aren't needed on mine as it's the later coil pack. On comparison with the old leads the new ones are about an inch longer. Could this be causing the issue? I've still kept the lead lengths in proportion to the old ones but they're definitely longer - I would have thought the resistance difference would have been practically zilch?
