When another forum member messaged me on Facebook to ask me whether I was going to Show & Glow last week, I remembered seeing a sign at Bluewater but hadn't put two and two together. So there's a (mostly) indoor car show one minute from my house? It was a bit expensive for a one-day show (£12.50 in advance, £15.00 on the day), although I'm a retro-car miser rather than a scene-player so that's probably more about me than the actual cost and I can imagine that hiring the exhibition halls at Bluewater necessitates the price! Quite a risk for the organisers, I suspect. That said, I wouldn't need to put any fuel in the tank, so it was probably cheaper overall than other shows for me. I decided to pop down and take a look.
To be honest, I wasn't sure how busy it was going to be...I'd only heard about it via Facebook just before the event and couldn't find that much via Google. I guess I must just be out of the loop, as once I'd paid my money I was greeted with a hall full of shiny modded 'dubs.
This is actually the downstairs hall, which was probably less packed than the upstairs one. There was a live band doing Indie covers at one end and some traders dotted around the edges.
This was one of the first cars on the way in. I should apologise at this point for my photography - I didn't take a tripod (I couldn't be bothered) so most shots are a bit of a compromise between getting the best shot and not wanting to spend ages mucking about with settings. That pinstipe made all the difference...although it would still look pretty cool with it's slam 'n' rims job.
Whilst the main show, and the majority of cars were inside, there was quite a few cars outside too.
It was publicised as a VAG show (I wondered what the shoppers thought of the words 'VAG show' on the posters dotted around Bluewater...luckily a picture of a highly-polished split camper was included on the same poster!), there was a few non-VWs dotted about.
This cool headrest speaker and steering wheel combo were in...
...this Passat. Probably one of the coolest cars there in my opinion, although I suspect that's the retro-miser side of me making another appearance!
There was lots of 3SDM rims, and rightly so because they're a great looking wheel. This Lupo had the new smaller versions and looked brilliant!
More later...
