Well recently we bought a new kitchen for the house, and as with all things DIY it's fighting me every step of the way, all the new cabinets are filling up my workshop at the moment, and so in order to pull me through not being able to do anything garagey of late, here is a snapshot of what I got up to when I still had the room:
Take one grufty old paraffin stove, which now is obsolete given the price of paraffin if you can find it to buy these days:
As found in the back of a shed I was clearing.
I took the door off, just to see how well it'd come up with a scrub and some fresh paint:
Not too bad:
An idea is born, a broken garden light gives up it's lens, and some m8 screws with a hole drilled in each give us a hand rail:
Luckily I had enough paint to spruce up the base too:
I gutted a pIkea table lamp for it's workings, and got an in-line switch from ebay, the bulb itself is an LED item to prevent it getting too hot, as it's rather close to the base of the lens.
Not bad for a few hours work and a bit of headscratching. I had no idea how it'd turn out, but I knew I didn't want to bung it in the skip!
