Hi all Just a quick update on my latest project a1997 mx5 mk1 in British racing green done loads of miles but looks to have been looked after despite the high miles. It's been bumped on the drivers side, only minor and can be repaired easily enough. I've had it a few months now and have fitted lowered and updated shocks and springs. Ive also began swapping the standard bushes for poly items. I've just bought a set of golf G60 steel wheels for it and looking at them with the yoko lower profile tyres they are even smaller than the 14's but slightly wider. My plan is to upgrade the suspension, brakes and then set about fitting a turbo. With an intercooler, Subaru turbo and a decent ECU I should easily be able to find about 170/180 bhp whilst keeping the standard internals,if I raise the boost and fueling I think about 190/200 bhp will be possible. But I want reliable power so will keep the power at the lower end for now.

The 15's are actually lower than the 14's which helps.also the wider tyres will look better.

Hi nice Mx, i run a Eunos R limited, are your G60s straight fit or did you have to use spigot rings.

The G60 wheels are a straight fit, finding a set is the difficult bit. If you search for Passat winter wheels on the VW forums those wheels are identical but sell for less money!!

May heave gone up in price a bit by now, there is also a VW heritage for parts. You are right though the wheels you have are Passat winters which are cheaper than G60 steels, as the shape of the holes has the flat edge whereas the g60's were totally circular, and harder to come across. As you said the same design was on the mk2 in both 13 and 14". There dearest steels for the mk2 are the calimasters in chrome that were on some golf country's, the bizarre jacked up syncro five doors!
