Don't really want to sell, but we have a 944 sat on the drive that needs some spending on.
So we are reluctantly looking to sell our 1987 Mk2 Golf Gti.
it is in use daily by us as a family.
Starts first time everytime, never let us down.
The engine and gearbox are great and is lovely to drive.
It has the attractive stripy interior with only one small split on the drivers bolster.
The bodywork has a few bits that could do with tidying up if you are that way inclined.
There are a couple of bits if surface rust on the drives door and passenger arch (see pics)
And there are a few scratches to the paint on the bonnet.
It seems to be original paint as the coach stripe is still present.
It washes polishes up really well.
The sunroof works fine and does not leak.
The rear wiper doesn't but I haven't investigated this.
The only modification is the suspension.
I have fitted some adjustable coilovers.
I think it looks amazing.
It comes with the original clarion tape player which works fine.
Might even chuck in the lost boys and top gun soundtrack.
The only issues I know of are
The rear wiper doesn't work
The aerial has been snapped off at some point but you can still get local radio.
There is a small split in the drivers seat, but nothing too concerning.
The plastic trim seat release handle that tilts the seat forward is missing on the drivers seat.
It has original BBS alloys but at some point in their life they have been painted black.
They have been sanded back.
The heat shield near the exhaust rattles every now and again.
Forgot to mention this had had new brake lines throughout
Mk3 golf brake calipers
Newish exhaust
I have recently upgraded the headlight wiring loom ( you can now see at night)
All in all a great little car that we rely on all the time.
Great for trundling around. Our kids love it.
We have got three cars at the moment (new one arrives on Monday too!) so unfortunately one has to go.
Update:
Storage sorted in the mean time.
Will be booked in with the garage for the work and a retest within the next week to 10 days.
