Hopefully you're not already bored of the various Goodwood Revival threads that have been appearing. Here comes another one.
Having got up before 6am to get to Goodwood at a reasonable hour the first thing to do was eat some breakfast by the car while watching all the other pre-73 cars roll in to the car park. By the time we entered the circuit the first group of cars were about to exit the paddock and gather for the first race. I took this photos specifically to remind me that there had been some blue sky at some point in the day.
All grouped up ready for the formation lap. Fordwater Trophy for Prod. based sports and GT cars '55 - '60.
Once round, then just enough time for everyone to reach the grid before [Murray Walker]GO! GO! GO![/Murray Walker]
Gullwing gets sandwiched. They got even closer than this...
Everyone makes it through.
I saw the Ferrari TdF on the inside here parked in the car park on the Friday last year.
Go Rochdale!
The red Healey that started on the front row span early on and subsequently came storming through the field, eventually overtaking Jochen Mass in the gullwing to take the lead and win the race.
With that race done we went and wandered about, through the Tour de France themed area, under the track and then around the paddock areas.
How patriotic.
Ickle_Seth wanted to see the planes so we even had a look round them for a bit.
Serious Mass is Serious.
Happy Mass is Happy.
I was interested to note the split pads of friction material on these brake shoes on a Jag, I think.
I think I found some new favourite wheels, attached to this Connaught
We got into a position down by the collecting area to watch the Settrington Cup for J40s on a big screen.
DKW had some good expansion chamber work going on for two stroke fans.
We then headed up from near the empty bike paddock towards the inside of Lavant corner with the intention of watching the saloon car race from there. On the way I snapped some bikes as their race was still going.
With them finished there were the normal bought/won rides around the circuit while they cleared away the broken motorbikes and the winning riders parraded round.
Seeing as I am ignorant about Motorcyclists, Wikipedia tells me that Mick Grant on the back here is a seven times winner of the IoM TT. The chap up front is a more recent racer, Gary Johnson.
Part two to come....
