Just had end piece come off / broken cable for the release cable connecting my interior door handle to its latch, End piece rather like the lower one in this picture: Anyone have any ideas or knowledge upon getting / fitting these if I buy a new length of steel cable?

Motorcycle shops sell a throttle cable kit that is universal. It has a cable and all sorts of ends such as the one you're after. You just cut and crimp them to size.
Iirc it was about £7.00 last year so probably still available.
It was hiengerick (if that's how it's spelt)

Yeah a decent motorcycle or go-kart place should do replacement cable ends, both solder on and bolt on in various sizes. Last time I bought some they were about 10p each for solder on ones, and a touch more (but still pennies) for 'solderless' bolt on ones. That picture's of a push bike brake cable, so if the other end's clamped (rather than having another built in end) then one of those could work if the size is the same.
(Oh, to help searches they're often called cable nipples.)

Thanks for all the replies, still have to look around for a supplier local to me. So driving round without the door trim 'till then.

I got a solderless nipple in halfords in the bicycle section, fixed my throtle cable a treat The only problem is with a fized cable it ends up shorter, ok for throttle ect where you can wind in the outer cable ?
