Thought I would do a build thread on my touring as I'm keeping this one (although I say that about most cars I own..) Got the 320i off a mate 2 months ago as I was having withdrawal symptoms from not owning an e30... not sure why but they're addictive (this is my 9th). Its probably one of the least desirable models.. 320i auto white touring .. but its very much rust free which is what you should be looking for when purchasing an e30. Its been my daily since I got it so its not going to be a 1 month build. Plan is fast road/occasional track but keep it clean and neat Got a parts car which owes me more than the actual car I'm doing but its got a lot of good bits which ill be needing (good m30 3.5 engine and box with schrick cam, gas flowed head, alpina ecu and more ) the FRIDGE.. the m30 3.5 DONOR.. so far I've swapped the mint sport interior over, put a good sony cd in as it had an old pull-out kenwood cassette player. Taken the rear speaker pods as the fridge never had none and they also had ok speakers in them which was a bonus. I swapped the suspension over as the donor had good bilsteins all round and lower springs (not sure what size.. 60/40?) rear has to come down a touch as its looking like a gasser at the moment. Put the 15" BBS's on also all 4 wheels had mint khumo's. Rear top mounts on both cars weren't perfect so I got some e46 M3 'vert replacements and z3 reinforcement plates.

if anyone wants the shell let me know, its very solid shell with no rust but it could do with a paint

the beast is out!! now need to take other little bits I need off the red one so I can get rid of the shell to make room for the white one. Just need to collect a few bits like new clutch, slave cylinder and give it a service and a clean up and I'm ready to go Super happy its out, was abit daunting as ive never done anything like it before but was a straight forward removal and don't think ill have a problem getting it into the 320i fingers crossed

Not that worried about 5 stud conversion at the moment but I have thought about it just because theres a better choice of wheels. The 320i brakes should be good enough for now anyway but I will uprate the pads and hoses etc

finally pulled the m20 out of the touring. Plan for tomorrow will be to give the engine bay a quick tidy up, fit manual pedal box, e34 throttle cable + clutch pipe, then drop in the anchor! Smile Was a PITA getting out, bent part of my slam panel because of the power steering pump. The m20 felt heavier than my m30 maby because of the auto box. Cant wait until the m30s in and running
