Hi all, my name is Steve and my handle is Carledo because thats what I drive. Its a 73 Triumph Toledo with a 2ltr 8v Vauxhall Carlton engine which I took to Prescott and ran up the hill a few times. I also have a 78 Dolomite Sprint which is a rare Auto model and which is in process of having an Omega 2.2 with autobox transplanted in. My dailies are a pair of Cavalier Autos, 1 a near standard 91 2.0GL and the other a somewhat Modded 95 2.0 16v. Pic below if it works!
No it doesn't! will try again later!

Welcome Steve! I no doubt saw your Toledo at RRG, but I didn't know it had such an unusual transplant! Hope you get the pics to work

Cool car Steve, I didn't realise what you had in the Toledo but that's a nice conversion. Welcome along

Thanks to all for the friendly welcome and kind comments and a nice shot, working hard on the way out of the Esses i think! A view I never get, she corners surprisingly flat for a Dolly! When I work out how to do it, I'll post some pics of the oily bits!

So hopefully this is going to work! As promised, the oily bits The engine is, at the moment, bog standard Carlton 2.0 8v and 115bhp +or- a bit and came from a 60k 89 Carlton that I broke about 10 or 11 years ago, gearbox is Omega with custom shortshift, a bespoke prop and Dolly Sprint axle with 3.45 gears. Rad is Saab 9-3, header bottle, Volvo 240 and MGF 15" rims. She sits on Gaz ASP coilovers all round and has Sprint AR bars at both ends. The car was built for drag racing (best time so far, a slightly disappointing 16.78 at 79.4 MPH) so the brakes are only standard Dolly Sprint though it has Goodridge hoses and Greenstuff pads the brakes proved inadequate for a trackday at Prodrive a few weeks ago, 3 hot laps and she was getting very squirelly and the pedal was getting rather long. Since I spent most of last winter getting the body right with new sills, n/s doorskin, bootlid, inner and outer front panel and front wings (the OFP and wings in GRP from the Brilliant Dolomite O/C) plus a respray, this winters project is a quest for more horses, plans include a Courtenaysport head, fast road cam, adjustable fuel pressure reg, bigger injectors and a remap to combat a serious power drop at over 4.5k revs, not that it WON'T rev, it just loses interest at 4.5k ATM. I've fitted a much better exhaust, a linelock and a load of polybushes in the suspension since clocking that 16.78 and I'm hoping for 160-170 bhp and a 14 next year! Steve

PS I know 170 bhp is not a lot around here but the little digger only weighs 760kg (without me in it lol) so power to weight ratio is "adequate" even now! There's also a half formed plan to pull out the 4 banger and drop in a 3.0 quad cam Vauxhall V6 but that depends on the twin curses of time and moolah!

I've seen this car a couple of times, and on the TDC forum - it's a great conversion you've done and I bet it's a damn sight livelier than most other Toledo's Welcome to RR as well!

On the face of it, i've done the hard work already, and yes it is pretty quick now, the V6 will bolt up to the current gearbox and may well mate to the current engine mounts, the only problem I can foresee is a slight (read extreme) lack of space for the o/s downpipe. I guess, seeing as I have most of the bits to uprate the existing lump already, I'll do that over the winter and see if it satisfies "the need" next year. If not then........Omegas are dirt cheap at the moment! Steve
