I know we have talked about connecting an MP3 player/phone to a stereo system on here a few times.... I'm now wondering if a better option (for me) is just using a Bluetooth speaker. The advantage is that there is no need to try and fit an amp or head unit anywhere - which is a challenge with a very minimalist interior.
The other advantage is being able to use the speaker in any other mobile situation; in the garden, camping etc.
Bose do a few(expensive) bluetooth speakers with rechargeable lithium ion batteries that are supposedly good for up to 8 hours.
Do you think these would be man enough for the job, and be audible at cruising speeds in a fairly noisy retro?

Read that the Cambridge Audio Minx Go is a good option too, and only £99, but still not sure it will be loud enough for a car....

if you don't want to run a stereo, why not just use an amp which can be mounted anywhere you like, get some retro speaker pods, fit modern speakers in the pods so they are hidden and don't look out of place, then run a 3.5mm stereo jack to rca lead from the amp to the front of the car. You could do that for well under a ton. If volume control is an issue, you can get amps that have a remote volume control, using somthing that resembles a network lead.

Yep, I've done exactly that in the Triumph. In my Rochdale however, even a pair of speakers will be hard to hide. I prefer the idea of something that isn't permanent.....

I've got a teeny battery-powered speaker (this one: s7v1.scene7.com/is/image/JohnLewis/231015340alt1?$product$ ) plugged into the iPod temporarily until I get the Granny's stereo fixed. Running at 70 with the sunroof open, I can still hear it fine, so I think a decent Bluetooth speaker like a Jawbone would work well.

Fair enough, just looked through your build thread and can see just how little space you have! My other idea would have been to buy a cheap bluetooth speaker, de-construct it, then fit it into something like an old travel case or similar so you could them use a bigger battery and speaker, but I don't think you will have the space to do that either. What about these?! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/retro-headrest-car-speakers-/221246964398?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=RbsgH%252FTveHKfulvypGL14HvBzs0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncI am only kidding about the headrest speakers btw

The idea of fitting a bluetooth speaker in a travel case is really interesting. Especially in matching leather with tje interior. Mmm.....nice, thanks!
