You are looking at an increasingly rare RED 20 odd year old Vauxhall Astra Mk3 Phase 1. whereas all other red Vauxhalls of this era are either pink or scrapped this has gone against all odds and survived both.
MOT: July 2014 – A WHOLE YEAR!!!
TAX: 30/11/2013
Mileage: 85589
Keys: 3x
Location: Coventry
Price: £400 / deals detailed below.
The LS was fairly econo spec when it came out, and I have changed nothing of it in that sense.
1.4l engine
Black (not grey!) plastic bumpers
Window winders all round
No power steering (feels nicer that way anyway)
It even has its original Grundig tape deck. (code included)
All this means when it comes to insurance it is literally pennies. Only cost me £30 to add it onto my classic policy... That's right, eligible for classic insurance. BONUS!
The only thing Owner number 1 splashed out on is the option of a tilt and retractable, mirror tinted, sunroof. Which is manually wound. Included are also the Proper, real deal, Dealer supplied, Vauxhall locking roof bars, with keys!
Personally I have only owned this car for around 18 months and before that it was my fathers cousins right back from '94. This car has been cared for meticulously by our family for the last 19 years of the cars 21.
In the time I have had it, it has been absolutely perfect for what I needed it for. It took me and all my stuff back from Uni, and moved us into our new house, trust me when I say this car is positively CAVERNOUS inside.
Last summer this car took us around the continent, all of us agreed that the car was surprisingly comfortable and a nice place to be. Even with the 1.4 it can happily keep up with modern motorway traffic, all the while barely sipping the fuel and returning a mind boggling 45-50MPG. Apart from this minuscule amount of fuel use the car uses no other fluids and holds all it's water and oil.
This car starts on the first turn of the key every time, although sometimes revs a little high at cold. When on the road it pulls nicely in all gears and drives, turns and stops as it should do.
As all of you who have been 21 yourself know, even in that short amount of time, you can pick up some battle scars. This car does have a few small car park related injuries to the bodywork and passenger wing mirror, as well as a small part of rubbing strip missing from what I believe to be a replacement wing on the passenger side. The only rust on this car is around the rear wheel arches where I replaced them early last summer and obviously didn't give it a good enough repaint.
Inside the 85k miles have started to show a little, the head lining has started to sag a little around the sun roof, the steering wheel is slightly polished and the gear stick gaiter has a bit of wear on it.
As for modifications, the wheels in the photos are aftermarket as are the front springs.
This car has just sailed through it's MOT and will do for a few more to come. The only reason I am wanting to sell is I tasted mx5 ownership for a month during the winter, and I am trying to pursue it again. In the words of Mrs Goodoldluke “You can't have that many cars!”

Dirty under bonnet pics.
Extremely solid strut tops!
Price is£545. Or if you want to save a little and live a lot, bring 4 of your own wheels (I'll throw in the spare) and I'll knock £100 off the price £400 and it will be sold on whatever wheels are on it at the time.
Contact me by PM on here. I'll try and log on regularly to check.
Thanks all.
