Hello,
I'm having trouble locating a replacement tie bar for the steering on my early Toyota van, Toyota part no. 45450-29065. It's the cross bar arrowed:
The van failed its MOT on the ball joint at the end (which is not detachable). Unfortunately Toyota have discontinued the part and the the internet has drawn a blank so far. I think the same link was used on all Hiace's and Hilux's from the late 60s to about 1983, but none of the breakers around here have anything that old in at the moment.
So, as a last resort can anyone recommend an engineers that could make one? As far as I know, I'm not allowed to weld a new ball joint onto the old bar (not that I would really want to trust a weld in something that critical anyway).
Thanks for any pointers!
