Howdy everybody.
Just thought I'd start a build thread for my Mk1 Escort project, now that I've actually started doing something to it!
It's been hit pretty bad on the front right corner but hopefully it's all repairable!
Up till now I've taken the front end to bits to enable me and a good mate of mine(who's a panel beater) to use a hydraulic ram(Portapower I think they're called)in the engine bay to straighten the chassis.
However after an initial bout of manic work on the car progress has stalled due to 2 things-I'm skint and I can't find a decent drivers side wing!
I am currently toying with the idea of buying a pair of Mexico fibreglass wings from Smith and Deakin in the UK but postage is pretty costly and I've read they're a right curse word to get to fit properly,so I'm not sure if I can justify the cash. They would look great on it though, and save me trouble with rubbing issues when I lower it. What do you guys think? Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?
Have some pics!
Since this pic has been taken I've ripped the mangled wing off and found a couple of rust spots that need taking care of,but nothing major!
Empty engine bay!
The 1.3 Crossflow will be going back in when it's finished but only to get it on the road! There's a Pinto waiting in the wings:D
It really sucks not being able to do anything with it but hopefully I can get cracking soon and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of this thing!!
And finally a bonus pic of my Mini to keep her happy!
She's currently abandoned but that's only because I'm yet to get thisoff to the machinists for some work! It's all my own handiwork and seeing as it's the first ever head I've done I'm pretty proud of it.All done in accordance with the teachings of the Great Vizard and his yellow bible!Hopefully it'll deliver the goods! Then I can put the engine together and back in place and get her going again!
That's all for now folks!
