Hi Retro Rides, This is my Mini. It's a 1991 Rover Mini Mayfair. It's in cracking condition and the only rust on it is a small bit under the near side front headlamp and two tiny bits on the rear valence. I'm only 16 so have got about a year until I can start driving, but the Mini will still be used by my parents and I'll learn to drive in it! I'll be going for a retro look, so 10" steelies, sliding windows, etc! I've just got to get my parents to let me! This is what the car was like when we bought it, bar the AA badge which I added. Hope you like it! And one with my dog,

Thats awesome mate, the later minis rust like mad. I was going to say don't change a thing, but i guess 10" wheels, some 175 tyres will make it look ace. I'm not sure if you can buy 10" wheels that fit over 12" wheel brakes so might it get a little expensive.

Thanks!
Yeh, as its a post 84 in it has 12" wheels and 8.4" discs on the front. I'm hoping to get the smaller discs and calipers and have Cooper S reversible rims on it.

Great stuff, i've had a few Mini's in the past, still love them, plans for it sound great, as mentioned you will need Cooper S discs and calipers to mount the 10's, only tyre you can get (AFAIK) is a 165/70/10, remember these will alter your gearing and speedo too.
Interested to see how you will manage the sliding windows ?, have seen MK3/4's converted to external hinges too but it's a lot of work, MK1 doors will not fit a MK3/4 as they are a different shape.
Are you going to convert the rear lights and dash too ?

Thanks Guys!
For converting the windows, I'm aiming to buy some MK1/2 doors then transfer the window rail and other parts onto the MK3 doors. I definatl want to do the dash, but I was think of just getting MK2 rear lenses then welding MK1 conversion plates.

Mk1/2 doors are a completely different size, as you can see on this pic: Looks a very tidy example though.

What ever you choose to do, as long as it puts a smile on your face so be it Good luck (get it ready for IMM, L2B 2014 and SMD)

Hi RR, bit of an update on this. I went off the idea of a MK1 clone. I want to do something unique and different. I'm making it a bit Euro and J. Heres some mods I've done. I sticker bombed the front valance. I found an old train station sticker, so I put that round the towing eye I added. Also added the old type numberplates, which look alot better IMO. Trailing eBay one night, I came across the old Union 76 aerial balls, I think its pretty funky. I love Lego, so I started on a parcel shelf, needs to be finished really. I made a fuel bib at school, which adds to the J style I like. I made the GB Plate at school too. I've sanded a boot as well to rust it! Finally got a Desmo roof rack cheap locally, so that will go one in the near future. Next up is wheels, probablly 10x6 Wellers.

Nice mini
I have a 99 Cooper MPI (2nd one)
The first one was a rust heap, and we changed a load of panels, bigger wheels + arches. Full leather etc
The current one will have a early look front end with moustache grill , 13" wheels, half cage, 7" tablet in the dash for music and sat nav etc. that's after new sills, part floor, doors, a panel, wing repairs etc.

Blimey, been ages since ive posted on this! On the surface little has changed, due to the fact ive just been driving it loads. I passed my test in November, rocked on stock steelies for a while and have changed back to the lalloys . iIhad to un lower it due to insurance , but i can live with it! I've put some group 2 arches on but still have poke and added stuff to the rack. Made a pokemon gear knob too. Before the chromes, still on steels (with my Euro N-Cap rear one!) I've got something special install for the exhaust, and maybe a window louvre coming up , and hope to see you at RRG15! nice mini are you keeping the bootlid as 'rat look' or are you going to spray it back red? quite like it how it is currently IMO Cheers Dan, yep I'm keeping the rat look boot, something different!
