Hello everyone, New here, I cant believe it took so long to hear about this site! I'm 50 yrs old so have had quite a few cars over the years especially as ive worked in the motor trade for 32 yrs! Ive always had a soft spot for Jags thanks to my dad, He was a company director in the 60's and had a Mk2 and a 420, I used to smoke around in Mk2's and an S-type in my late teens as you could pick them up for a few hundred quid and run them into the ground! Ive had a 58 Mk1, 3 Mk2's, S-type, 420 and S1 and S2 XJ's. Then I got married and bought a flat, I sold an absolutely mint S1 XJ 4.2 MOD to pay the deposit! Then it was years without a Jag, I had time to think about what I would like again and it had to be a MK2 and an S1 XJ because IMO these 2 are the best of the bunch, They look perfect from every angle! Got a really nice MK2 last year for not silly money, Its a 3.8 MOD and spent most of its life in California so its got a near mint shell still on its original sills etc, Its cosmetically starting to show its 49 yrs abit but it goes well and still looks good! Then I came upon this XJ on Ebay the other week with a buy it now, A 2.8 but sadly auto, I had to take a punt and bought it unseen, Stored for the last 22 yrs, 59K miles and 3 previous owners that all knew each other, I figured if its rotten I would break it, The straight port head and 2" SU's can go on the MK2, Well its finally arrived, Ive not had a chance to poke around underneath as I had to get to work, It seems nice and straight, Theres filler in the front wings around the headlights and a bit where the sills join the rear arches as its had outer sills at some point, The interior is really good, Just needs a clean even the headlining hasnt sagged! Also I love the colour, Ive never seen a Fern grey S1 in the flesh but I prefer lighter shades on S1's rather than dark colours. So my plan on Sunday is to get it up in the air and have a good poke about, If its a goer the first thing I need to do is get a manual conversion done, If anyone can help with bits please PM me, Heres some pics as I know you all love piccys!: Cheers for looking.

This is an amazing car, i love the S1 XJs and this looks to have a bucket load of potential. I'll be watching this one evolve.

Ok, I got it up in the air and got the wheels off, Its pretty solid so i am chuffed to bits with it, It has less rot than a S1 i did up 25 yrs ago! I'll post some pics up later as i'm shooting off to work now, Cheers.

That's a lovely old thing, stroke of luck with the structure, i'd also vote for preserving the original paint/patina

That is a gorgeous old barge...!!! I cannot wait to see how this looks after a thorough cleanse as that would totally transform this once cherished motor, a good wash can make a huge difference... You have found a real gem there and I cannot wait to keep track of what happens to it...!

This is perfect.
I hanker after a series 1 xj6. The look of this one is perfect too, id leave all the patina and just drive as is.
